Do you have a passion to support people who release the church in its local community to flourish in faith, hope and love? Then this could be the opportunity for you!

Ministries Committee is looking for a convener for its Accreditations Sub-Committee to replace its current convenor who will complete their term at the July 2025 General Assembly. The convener will need to have working knowledge of the formal ministries of the United Reformed Church.

The Accreditations Sub-committee plays a vital role in supporting and creating new opportunities in shaping posts to be recognised as Church Related Community Work projects or Pioneering posts including current Special Category ministries, in approving certificates for ministers from partner churches both at home and abroad to serve with us, and in analysing trends in the Rolls of Ministers of the Word and Sacraments and Church Related Community Workers, Elders, Assembly Accredited Lay Preachers and Assembly Accredited Lay Pioneers.

Ministers wishing to transfer to the United Reformed Church

Ministers of other churches wishing to transfer to the United Reformed Church can seek a Certificate of Eligibility to come on to the Roll of Ministers of the United Reformed Church.

Applications are welcome from ministers who are members of churches that are either a member of Churches Together in Britain and Ireland, the Council for World Mission, the World Communion of Reformed Churches.

Your application should evidence experience in local pastorate ministry (minimum 5 years) in a leadership role; intercultural competence; understanding/experience of working in multi-church pastorates/settings and a readiness and willingness to serve in any part of the UK

  • Closing date for applications: 15 July 2025
  • Initial interviews: August (via Zoom)
  • Successful candidates will be invited to attend an in-person Assessment Conference from 30th October – 1st November in Cambridge, UK.

Commission Secretary – Ministerial Discipline Process

The URC’s Ministerial Discipline Process is looking for a Commission Secretary, effective from July 2025, but with ample shadowing time of the present post-holder built in.

Key tasks include:

  • Keeping records of the panel for Assembly Commissions.
  • Approaching identified individuals to sit on Assembly Commissions.
  • Liaising with all those involved in disciplinary cases.
  • Arranging meetings for Assembly Commissions, draft agendas, take minutes and assist to progress cases. Advise on due process.
  • Drafting documents for approval by the Assembly Commissions.
  • Monitoring and seek to expedite the progress of cases through the ‘hearing stage’ of the disciplinary process
  • Making arrangements for formal disciplinary hearings and attend, including taking notes during the hearing, keeping records of decisions made, informing parties of decisions made and record keeping.
  • Seeking feedback and drafting lessons learnt reports on all cases that entered the disciplinary process.

Are you passionate about education and the life of the Church? The Milton Mount Foundation is seeking a United Reformed Church (URC) member to join its Board of Trustees and help guide its mission of educational support.

The Milton Mount Foundation exists to help fund education, primarily by making grants towards school fees using funds invested from the sale of the buildings of a now closed school, and also by offering grants towards university education.

This is a voluntary but deeply rewarding role that helps shape how the Foundation supports students across the UK.

Faith in Action Committee MembersÌý

Do you have a heart for discipleship and mission? Do you want to make a difference in the life of the wider URC and beyond? We are looking for new Committee members – this is your opportunity!

The new Faith in Action Committee (combining the work of the previous Children and Youth, Education and Learning and Mission Committees) are looking for new Committee members.

We are looking for people with an interest in our 3 focus areas: Children and Youth/Intergenerational (1 person), Mission including evangelism and ecumenism (3 people), Education/Lay learning (1 person). Each member will advocate for their focus area but also be a general member of the Committee promoting the work of mission and discipleship in the URC.

The Faith in Action Committee supports the United Reformed Church’s outreach in terms of evangelism and witness; public issues; community engagement; pioneering; ecumenical & interfaith relations; intergenerational worship; global & intercultural ministries; racial justice and legacies of slavery; as well as ministry among children, young people and young adults, intentionally listening to their voices; net zero advocacy; lay learning; and world justice through the URC’s Commitment for Life programme. The role of the Committee is to support and guide the Faith in Action staff team in implementing the work agreed by Assembly through the Mission Strategy created to reflect the focus areas vital to the life of the URC.
